So...I slept with someone last night. He kept biting me! It was ....... a mosquito! I never get mosquito bites in the US and here I have a ton. After last night, you can add about 30 onto my legs. If I have no skin when I get back, it´s bc I´ve scratched it off.
Things have been great here. On Sunday, my family took me around town and showed me all the sites. We were out for 11 hours. That is a long time for your brain to function in another language with no words in English. I was exhausted by the end of the day.
We had a capoeira class on Monday and I am so sore!!!! And then we had a dance class yesterday.
Well I have to go to class, I will write back later.

culture
Our hot water went out a couple days ago, so they family had to heat up water on the stove and pour it into a bucket for everyone to shower. Very interesting! Huh? Not to mention the shower is 2ft x 2ft. So shaving your legs is impossible and the shower head points straight down. It´s not that bad once you get used to it.
Also, I feel kind of free here. I am not checking my cell phone every 2 seconds, I only check my email once a day if that, I don~t dry my hair, I only put on eye makeup really quick. It is just totally different from the US. I would never walk out of my house without my hair dried and straightened in the US or leave the house without my cell phone.
I went and saw Sex and the City last night. It was good. I cried a lot because it was one of the sad happy movies. This is for you mom --> I HATED JENNIFER HUDSON IN IT AND I AM SO MAD SHE RUINED MY MOVIE! I just cannot stand that girl, maybe it´s her ghetto accent.
Oh and to make a single girl feel worse -- Today is Valentine´s day in Brasil! I have to go through another vday! And unfornately both of them i´m alone. It´s like the world just wanted to remind me again that I am single! Where are you Dori with my fondue and my LOST!? I woke up this morning and looked out my window to the other apartments and i saw a huge boquet of flowers on this person´s desk. UGH!
Mom - I tried to call yoiu the other day but you didn~t answer your cell phone or the house phone.
Talk to yall later! Love you!

Family, concert, praia do forte
Walter is awesome and so is his mom. I was studying in the living room and the mom looked at my book and all my verbs and was like, ´´portuguese is so hard`´´ Then Walter came in glanced at my book, hit the top of it, and says, ´´ Talk to me...I know more´´ I thought it was so funny. He makes me breakfast every morning and we watch the news and then the mom eats dinner with me. I love my class also. There are 6 of us (all girls) and our teacher is so nice! No English is spoken at all! Also we went to some fort the other day and our guide was talking to us and said he was in a band. I got him to write down the name of the bar and what time it was and I got 3 people to go with me. It was a rock n roll band and he was screaming. The sound was pretty bad but he was so nice. Before the show, he walked us to get something to eat and we had acarje which is very Brasilian, ( I know my bf Anthony Bordane has eaten it!) and then during the show he introduced us and dedicated the show to us and proceeded to play ´´ You shook me all night long´´´!!!! It was so funny! And everyone in the club knew the words! We are in praia do forte this weekend. It is a beach and it is so nice! Mom, you would love it! They have a strip with lots of shops and restaurants and then the beach is two minutes away. Everyone is so relaxed and in their bathing suits. They also have a sea turtle project here. They are so big! I touched one today. Two Brasilian boys hopped the fence and took pictures with it, so I did too! I~m just glad it didn~t bite my hand off! Talk to you soon!

My first day with the family
I met my family today! Walter picked me up from the hotel. (He is very cute but has a girlfriend...go figure!) I unpacked and walter cooked me lunch. Beans, rice, stroganoff, salad, and potato sticks. It was good. He walked me to school because we are about to go on a city tour. I live about 1 minute from the school. It is so close. I have not met the mom yet but I think Iwill tonight I couldn~t really understand him. But I spent 3 hours with him and we talked about school. politics, and music. So I guess I know more than I think. Well there are people waiting but I will blog later.
Tchau!

Brasil!
I am finally in Brasil. After our flight getting cancelled, not having luggage for 2 days (and some people still don´t have it), I am having a great time. I love this place. This country has the nicest people out of any country I have visited. We are in Foz de Igacu now and we are going to the waterfalls tomorrow. I have been eating a lot of barbeque like Fogo de Chao. It is so good! You can~t be a vegetarian in this country. Also, the people are beautiful. Everyone is a mix so the people look like they do in the U.S. but they speak portuguese. I am learning a lot. I am really good at asking questions but when people answer, they speak so fast that I have to have them repeat a lot. I really don~t know what else to say. Sorry if there are any typos in this, the keys are smaller on this keyboard. Tchau!
